Nehemiah 4:10 . . . Then the people of Judah began to complain that the workers were becoming tired.

We get tired when there is too much work and the job seems too big.

Job 7:1-11 . . . I, too, have been assigned months of futility, long and weary nights of misery.

We get tired when we have a long sickness and grow weary of it.

2 Corinthians 11:27 . . . I have lived with weariness and pain and sleepless nights. Often I have been hungry and thirsty and have gone without food. Often I have shivered with cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm.

We get tired when we are constantly lacking necessary resources.

Proverbs 23:4-5 . . . Don’t weary yourself trying to get rich. Why waste your time? For riches can disappear as though they had the wings of a bird!

We get tired when we are striving too hard for something that isn’t worth it.

2 Corinthians 5:2 . . . We grow weary in our present bodies, and we long for the day when we will put on our heavenly bodies.

2 Corinthians 13:4 . . . We, too, are weak.

As we grow older or face sickness or infirmity, we grow weary of our failing bodies and long for the new bodies we shall receive in heaven.

Not eating well can make us tired.

John 4:6 . . . Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.

Keeping on with something too long will make us tired.

Ecclesiastes 12:12 . . . Be warned: There is no end of opinions ready to be expressed. Studying them can go on forever and become very exhausting!

Not seeing the end in sight can make us tired.

Psalm 40:2 . . . He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire.

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 . . . I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me . . . Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away.

We get tired when we are depressed or discouraged.

Psalm 31:10 . . . I am dying from grief; my years are shortened by sadness. Misery has drained my strength; I am wasting away from within.

Luke 22:45 . . . At last he stood up again and returned to the disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief.

Grief will drain our strength.

Who can help me when I grow weary?

Psalm 68:35 . . . God is awesome in his sanctuary. The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!

Isaiah 40:29-31 . . . He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

2 Corinthians 12:9 . . . Each time he said, “My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me.

Isaiah 41:10 . . . Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

Hebrews 12:3, 12 . . . Think about all he endured when sinful people did such terrible things to him, so that you don’t become weary and give up. . . . So take a new grip with your tired hands and stand firm on your shaky legs.

Isaiah 49:4 . . . I replied, “But my work all seems so useless! I have spent my strength for nothing and to no purpose at all. Yet I leave it all in the Lord’s hand; I will trust God for my reward.”

The Lord who gives us strength also gives us renewed strength.

What do I have to watch out for when I’m tired?

Galatians 6:9 . . . Don’t get tired of doing what is good. Don’t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.

Being tired makes us more susceptible to discouragement, temptation, and sin.

Proverbs 30:1-2 . . . I am weary, O God; I am weary and worn out, O God. I am too ignorant to be human, and I lack common sense.

Being tired causes us to lose our perspective.

Job 10:1 . . . “I am disgusted with my life. Let me complain freely.”

Being tired can cause us to say things we may later regret.

Ecclesiastes 1:8 . . . Everything is so weary and tiresome! No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied.

Being tired can cause us to lose our vision and purpose.

Matthew 11:28 . . . Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

Psalm 127:2 . . . It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night . . . for God gives rest to his loved ones.

Always being tired may mean you are trying to do too much; it may be God’s way of telling you to slow down and enjoy more fellowship with him.

Weariness makes us vulnerable to temptations and enemies. It causes us to lose our confidence and trust in God.

Promises from God:
